About Me

Hi, my name is Dorothy Vander Wyst. I am married to Frank, and we have 5 children: Alexa, Joe, John, Jake and James. They range in age from 20’s down to teens.

I have always loved working with colors and making crafts, but this fascination with balloons didn’t come along until later in my life; when I was 47, to be exact! I first saw balloon creations in Marquette, MI, and went online to check out how I could get started making them. At a workshop in Chicago I made my  first creation, a frog. I started sharing these balloons with friends and family on birthdays, baby showers, Christmas, you name it! I kept on practicing and learning from others on YouTube. I found some balloon twisters in our area, including a guy from DePere who let me come along on a job of his, and got me started. My son John and I brainstormed business names, Festive Balloons was born!

I have had so many opportunities through this business that I would not have otherwise had,  like going to the 2016 World Balloon Convention in New Orleans, and working for Funny Faces in the Madison area. The field continues to expand as my work is seen by more and more people. In January 2018, I started doing Daily Deliveries to places around the Fox Valley (Green Bay to Oshkosh). It is a way to spread JOY with balloon art, keep me doing something for my business every day, and lets people see what is possible with balloons. In March of 2018, I took my balloon twisting to Haiti with Voice of Compassion, and had the opportunity to minister there!

In the future, I hope to travel to more places, meet more people and share in the lives of others through the medium of balloons!
